Although scientists don't know what dark matter is, they do know that it exists. It is like saying you don't know what dark matter is, but you know that dark matter exists. And just like with dark matter, scientists are not sure of the true qualities of apathy, but they do know that apathy exists.

For example, you might not be sure whether or not the sun will rise tomorrow morning. However, you know for sure that it will rise because it always rises every single day of your life. Apathy doesn't have an expiration date; it always exists no matter how long you live or how much time passes by.
